My Rating System
I basically rate books on how much I like them and how they make make me feel. Don't get me wrong, it's important to have good punctuation and good grammar, but I believe it is relative to the story.
I also enjoy books with great character development so the better the characters are developed the more likely I am to like the book. I also look for consistency- if the characters suddenly morph into someone completely different, it usually turns me off. If names change, places change, even if eye color changes it knocks the book down a bit in my mind.
So with all this in mind, here is my rating system:
5- Loved it~ Amazing storyline, great characters, I will recommend and think about this book from time to time and may even re-read it
4- really liked it~ Enjoyed the book and recommend it
3- liked it~ I may recommend it to some people who like the genre but it isn't a book I will probably ever think about again
2- it's okay~ I wouldn't recommend it to someone, but it had some good qualities
1- didn't like it at all~ if I rate a book at one, I usually didn't finish it or just skimmed through some of it. I don't like to give up on books so I will stick with a book until I just can't take it anymore.
